The Oceanside Project: Tabula Rasa

For the last century SimNation has been at war. These great battles might be the wars to end all wars. The supernatural population skyrocketed in the last hundred years. Dark witches massacred light witches. Vampires and werewolves fought for dominance. Plantsims and aliens spilled each others green blood. Bigfeet and fairies quarreled so much that they ended up destroying the SimEarth they held so sacred. SimNation soon became polluted as the vamps and werewolves blacked out the sun to kill the plantsims and have the ability to walk freely day or night. Roaches ran rampant as the dark witches continuously conjured them to bring sickness to all. Servos were reprogrammed to hunt and to kill.

Slowly the human sim race dwindled as humans crossed over to the supernatural side. Some out of fear, some for glory. Humans that did not comply were turned into zombies and left to lurch the streets wanting to eat human brains. But there was hope. A small army called the Human Resistance Army fought bravely against the supernatural terrorists. Unfortunately their numbers were too small to win any war.

One day a brilliant architect by the name of Fitz Biltmore devised a plan with the help of friends from the Landgraab Industries Science Facility. They decided that the human sims had had enough and they should leave this planet to the mystical beings. He knew that the facility had confiscated spaceships and they could use them to find new worlds. Malcolm Landgraab, X, the richest human still alive in SimCity, agreed to fund the endeavor and gave Fitz the spaceship to look for a new home.

Fitz did indeed find a new world, a world with blue oceans and clear skies. One that these humans had never seen before. Fitz began setting up the new world which he later named Oceanside. He outfitted it with electricity, phone lines and plumbing. Malcolm was in charge of finding people to bring on the first pilgrimage to the new land. Humans only, of course. He chose a seamstress, a chef, a mechanic, an enforcer, a dancer, a teacher, a financial genius, a musician, an artist, a scientist, and two horticulturist. With himself and Fitz, that was only fourteen people, all that could fit in the tiny spaceship, but they promised they would come back again to rescue more when they had the town more stable.

The weight of so many people in one small ship caused it to crash into a large, dormant volcano. As each settler emerged from the wreckage, they realized that their memories were gone. No longer did they have the skills they had on SimEarth. No longer did they remember the loved ones they left behind. All they knew was that they had moved in and maybe had a first kiss with someone, but they couldn't remember who that was! The married couples were partially immune. They did realize they were married to each other but they were shocked to find out they were not in love!

Luckily Fitz was a writer and had many journals in his library in Oceanside that told of the Supernatural Wars and all the pain and anguish they caused. The settlers knew that they were lucky to be in such a beautiful place. Some wondered if they even had left SimEarth at all. Maybe they were just in a area that the supernaturals knew nothing of. Maybe they had just traveled back in time. The only thing they knew for certain was that Oceanside was now their home and they had better make the best of it so that more refugees would be saved.

Meet The Founding Families

Fitz Biltmore
Fitz made several trips to Oceanside making sure it was inhabitable for the settlers before they arrived. He built lovely beach-front condos as starter homes for the residents as well as a nice farm for the Goodacres. Without his memories however, Fitz has to quickly re-learn all of the skills he needs to finish up the area. Upon arriving to Oceanside, he was astonished to find horses and cows running wild on the countryside. There were also remains of an ancient civilization amongst the wilderness of the jungle. Were they really alone? Would the supernaturals eventually find the refugees' new Garden of Eden?

Malcolm Landgraab, X
Back in SimCity Malcolm had to live in the shadow of his family of evil wizards. Only a handful of Landgraabs were still totally human. The more the wizarding family members pushed Malcolm the more he pushed back. Eventually there was a price put on the head of Malcolm X, put there by his grandfather himself. It was pure luck that Fitz Biltmore came into his life at exactly the right time with a dream of finding a new home. Malcolm quickly agreed to fund it all and found, at least he thought, a good group of people to bring to this new world. Even though the spaceship crash wiped Malcolm’s memory he still has the strange urge to name his first-born son after himself.

Vivian Moneywell
Vivian was a successful trader on the SimCity stock market. She knew how to get simoleans and grow simoleans quickly. Asking Vivian to come to Oceanside was a no-brainer for Malcolm. He would need an expert to control the city's simoleans and collect the necessary taxes as well as grow the simoleans as quickly as possible. Vivian however needed a lot of coaxing to leave her cushy lifestyle. The war meant nothing to Vivian. She worked with humans and supernaturals alike. The only thing she cared about was the simoleans.

The Lambswools
The decision to include George Lambswool was also a no-brainer for Malcolm. He was the head chef at Malcolm's favorite restaurant. Malcolm thought, he could have his favorite dishes all of the time. What Malcolm didn't know was George could not cook a seafood dish to save his life. It might be a little difficult for George's culinary skills to flourish if most of the food on the island comes from the ocean! George of course never told Malcolm about his lack of seafood skills. He's not dumb! He wanted off that crazy planet as fast as possible. Thank goodness for the memory loss from the crash. Now maybe he can learn the proper way to cook lobster thermidor.

George's wife, Dawn, was a talented seamstress and fashion designer in SimCity. She worked for one of the biggest retailers in the city and had many celebrity clients. Malcolm knew George would not come to Oceanside without his wife and thought it would be wonderful to have someone like Dawn on the first pilgrimage. He assumed the settlers would need clothes, after all.

Sadie Winchester
Don’t let the pretty face and sundress fool you. Sadie, formerly a general of the Human Resistance Army, is very tough. Malcolm did not hesitate to ask Sadie to join the Project. He figured she could be the police force of the island. But then again, who is going to steal anything from the settlers anyway?

The Bossanovas
Malcolm easily recruited Selena, an award-winning teacher, to join the Project. Selena was sick of dealing with unruly children that never learned discipline. She was a teacher, not a baby-sitter! Selena was more than enthusiastic especially when she thought about all these new children that would be born in the settlement that she could teach from an early age to sit quietly and pay attention. Then, by the time they were ready to attend school, it would be a breeze to teach them!

Diego is a world-class dancer most recently seen in the movie Step-up 2K: Retaliation. Malcolm didn't really recruit Diego but he knew Selena would not leave without her brother.

Connor Firestone
Connor was once your typical street-racing punk, drag racing through the streets and breaking numerous laws. During the Supernatural Wars however, he was known as a messenger for the human troops giving information from one faction to another quickly. This was the only way to send messages, you see, since the bigfoot population destroyed all of the cell towers in a massive fit of rage. Connor is also a mechanical whiz and can fix just about anything. Fitz used Connor's expertise to help set up phone, electricity, water and internet before the other settlers arrived.

The Troubadours
Kendrick and Malcolm were best friends back in SimCity. Kendrick was a very skilled musician and singer. When Kendrick sang ladies dropped their panties. Unfortunately for Kendrick the main lady dropping her panties is the head of the Witch Army. Never one to be with one woman for more than a minute, Kendrick deeply offended the witch who soon put a price on his head. Terrified that the witch would turn him into a zombie, Malcolm promised his friend that him and his sister Matisse could come to Oceanside. He rationalized this decision by saying that every world needs artists.

Kendrick’s sister, Matisse,  jumped at the chance to join the Oceanside project. At last she would be able to paint landscapes of blue skies and green grass, a departure from her current artwork of the polluted skies and concrete of SimCity.

Minka Yomoshoto
Minka is a scientific genius. She found a way to cure all of the supernaturals and make them human once again. Her plan was to set off a bomb that would spread the effects of the anti-toxin all over SimNation. Unfortunately the supernaturals got wind of this and Minka was a marked woman wanted by all factions of the Supernatural Armies. To save her life Minka decided to leave with the others and join the Oceanside Project even though she thinks that by leaving she is failing the entire human sim race.

The Goodacres
Owen and Becca have the natural ability to grow beautiful fruits and vegetables even in the most polluted areas of SimCity, better than even plantsims. Malcolm was more than anxious to bring the Goodacres to Oceanside. Without them how would anyone eat?

Notes: Welcome to my BACC! I am mostly following Nepheris' rules with a little bit of Penny's ideas for Liberty City, but I am changing them a little bit. My sims have plumbing and electricity and their homes are already built and furnished (mainly because I am super anal and hate the idea of redoing their houses as their income increases. Do it right the first time!). The only sims allowed to have jobs at the beginning are the architect, Fitz (because someone has to build the homes and businesses, right?) and the politician, Malcolm X. Malcolm cannot start the politician career until he becomes friends (i.e. wins the votes of) the majority of the founding families (in this case eight sims).

There isn't just one "founder" but founding families. These families are lucky and get to have their homes for free. New refugees will have to get a loan and then pay money to the soon-to-be built bank. If the founders outgrow their current condos or would like to start a business they will need to get a loan from the bank if they do not have enough funds. The founding families will pay taxes in order to get community lots. I have loads of other changes to the rules but I'll share them as I go along.

The whole Supernatural War story is my way of explaining why grown sims have no memories or skills. That always bugged me about fresh out of CAS sims.

Credits: I may or may not have totally stole this story idea from Terra Nova and probably a sim story I read at some time (didn't someone have a story with supernaturals fighting for world domination... I can't remember). I'm not at all original so this is probably the case.

Oceanside's terrain is a slightly road-edited version of Paradise Island by Nengi65. All of  the settlers except Dawn, George and Vivian were made from default face templates originally made by Selzi. Vivian is based on a default face template originally made by SpookyMuffin. Dawn and George were created by me.

I'm still in the process of decorating lots and what have you. Hopefully I will have the first proper post of the settlers up soon. Thank you for reading =)

I love your storyline so much, especially all the backstories for the characters!
And 'Even though the spaceship crash wiped Malcolm’s memory he still has the strange urge to name his first-born son after himself' made me smile. :)

Oceanside is very pretty as well.

Thank you =) Yes, Malcolm needs to continue the family tradition of naming their first sons "Malcolm" whether he remembers the tradition or not!
